Hi everyone, need to keep it short today…on the run…from terrible people…will be in touch soon…hmmm, sounds more exciting than what I’m really doing which is: volunteering for Teacher Appreciation Day at my kids’ school, doesn’t it?
* Hey Al, I’m just saying I’m a Hindu, it’s almost kidding, cuz, like you, it’s just the closest thing that comes to how I feel, today : ) I can’t stand organized religion either, and tend to adapt ZenLillism often as you do to Alanism, hahaha…
& onward…
I’ll get into the myriad of Hindu creation stories at a later date but for now, I wanted to outline this…the Hindu premises of ‘cycles within cycles’ and an ‘eye blink to God is an eon to us.’
Theologians speak of yugas, the great expanses of time through which spiritual evolution runs. There are four Hindu yugas, they roll one after the other within even larger cycles (confused yet?); here are their names and time spans:
Krita yuga: 1,728, 000 YEARS, in this era everyone is pure-hearted and people live together peacefully
Treta yuga: 1,296, 000 YEARS, in this era people lose one fourth of their goodness
Dvapara yuga: 864,000 YEARS, people are down to half their goodness factor
Kali yuga: 432,000 years, people are mostly bad, one fourth have traits of spirituality and altruism in them, and the rest are filled with hatred selfishness, and self-delusion.
The Yugas are named after dice throws, Krita = win, Treta=mostly win, Dvapara=nearly lose, Kali=wipe out!
The bads news: we are in the Kali era, and only about 5,000 years in, wah-hahaha…
The good news: there are ‘cycles within cycles’ in Kali yuga and in some of them, things start looking up!
Tao group fr http://michellemoquin.wordpress.com/ spoke of long time lines also, are they the creators of Hinduism?!
